Fishing Report April 28th , 7 Stripes

Striped bass fishing is in full swing. With a good number bass up to keeper size and above being caught from the beaches, breachways, and salt ponds. The class of fish coming through are surprising larger for this time of year than usual. They are hitting on a variety of artificial baits anything from top water, swimming baits to bucktails. There is a variety of bait around right now including shrimp, spearing, and squid. The tautog bite is picking up locally, these fish are being found anywhere from 40-20 ft of water and should only be moving shallower as the water continues to warm. Squid reports are starting to trickle in. A few boats got into cod this week bite has slowed a little bit locally. Freshwater fishing continues to produce well for trout especially now that areas are seeing less pressure with some anglers focusing more time on saltwater fishing. Weekend Weather Report
