Cold Knuckles!

Fishing off the beaches along the south shore has been consistently productive this week. Most the action has been coming at dawn or dusk. The striped bass have been smaller this week with mostly schoolie fish with an occasional 35 plus inch fish. There have been very few bluefish in the mix of blitzing fish.

The primary bait has been bay anchovies( 1/2 in - 3 inches translucent, brown/ pink in color), peanut bunker, and mullet around as well. Shad have been putting a dent in the bay anchovy population and some of the smaller shad have been on the mind of some larger class stripers .

Little to no reports came in on false albacore this week. With the temperature drop this week I would say most are headed out of this area for the remainder of the season.

Tautog reports have been really solid with some great seas and some solid fishing. Most boats getting limited out on tautog to around 7 pounds in less than 20 -35 ft. of water. We had one 10.7 lb. fish come into the shop this week as well. A few customers have been picking up some cod out around Block Island .

Stop by the shop for all the gear & guidance to help you have a successful outing.
