Look Alive!

With a mix of warmth, clouds, humidity, and coolness, every day is unique. This week has had excellent fishing. A mixed bag of bait is causing bass to feed in a number of spots. Fish are ranging in size from 6 inch schoolies to 40 inch cows. This week we have seen an uptick in tidal moments, as we approach the end of a new moon. For the next three days, the tides will be powerful before beginning to slack down.

Bass around the Breachways are mostly after silversides. Having said that, thin-profile baits, such Joebaggs Miracle Minnow, Yo-Zuri Hydro Minnow, and SP Minnow, have proven to be effective. There are increasing reports of larger bluefish, and their abundance should continue to rise. To avoid getting bit off when hitting the rocks, you might want to thicken up your flouro.

The tautog bite is gradually increasing, with most boats managing to capture a respectable limit. In order to have a productive day, you might need to try hitting a few different rockpiles because the fish are not moving around all that much.

As the water gradually warms, the worm hatch has been boiling up and the cinder spawn is beginning to spread out. To determine where the hatch will be that night, pay attention to the wind, humidity, and locations that have received direct sunshine. Additionally, the fish in the ponds are holding back waiting for these spawns to occur; even though they might not be visible during the day, they are still there.
