Short Fall Feel with Summer Fishing!

August is here but we are in no rush for the fall bite. A variety of different species to target this time of year from snapper blues to giant tuna. Fluke fishing has been good locally with a lot of shorts but also reports of limit catches including fish into the 7- to 8-pound range.

Fishing for black sea bass has also been picking up locally with more keepers being reported. With cod and Tautog opening back up August 1st, anglers have started to target them in order to put some fillets on the dinner table.

Striped bass has been steadily improving from shore and has been consistent out front. Striper can still be caught fishing live bait out in deeper water or fishing the shallower water and ponds after dark. The scup fishing remains very good from beach and boat. Schools of mackerel have been spotted off of the beaches with some consistency and there are still squid and a lots of sand eels around.

Bass fishing in the pond has still been most consistent in the first few hours of incoming tide. Tuna bite is heating up, most fish are coming in on the jig and troll . Call shop to get a more in depth report about where people are finding them.
