There has been a Big Wave of good sized fish moving through our waters. Fish are being caught in our salt ponds, off the beaches, and Breachways. Both tides are producing fish with most of the better fish coming at the end of the outgoing. Bass have been taking eels in Breachway especially at slack tide. Customers are reporting that the sizes have been mixed with people catching fish from the low 20-inch range up to the low 40-inch range. Bigger fish are hanging around Breachways we have not heard of fish over 40 in being caught in the pond yet. Bluefish are coming through in a strong wave, reports of 10-plus pound ones around.
The Worm Hatch continues. A lot more worms still need to hatch and arrival of a good number of big fish makes it even better. I would Expect a consistent hatch this weekend through early next week.
The Tautog bite has been off and on. Getting mixed reports from both shore and boat fisherman. They are there just have to be patient and maybe try a few spots.
Squid fishing has been consistent whether your on a head boat or going out yourself it is worth a shot at this point. Reports of large mackerel schools have been seen along the South shore. Also there have been some tuna crashing bait around the island. Which is a great sign for the season to come.
