10/13/23 Bass Thumb!

There are more than a few keeper black sea bass around. You can catch them with crab or you can throw an epoxy jig down with a teaser tipped with squid.

Fishing for striped bass has been very good with schools popping up throughout the day and a good bite on live eels, plugs, and jigs at night. The morning and evenings have also been producing fish on either tide inside the Breachway’s mostly on swim baits and bucktails. I saw some fish working the beach this week along green hill to Charlestown beach at times coming in tight enough to get a few solid casts at them. We should continue to see these blitzes as bass put on the feed with falling water temps.

False albacore are still around in good numbers, boats have been finding them from Watch Hill area all the way to Point Judith. Most shore action for them has been occurring from fire district beach to watch hill.

As for bait, the mullet are starting to thin out but, there have been good numbers of 4-to-5-inch peanut bunker and all kids of rain bait in the water. With the new moon the next few nights surfcasters should be very excited. We should see some fire in the water.
