I hope everyone had a chance to get out on the water this week! We've had some great weather, and the fishing has been good. Tomorrow is shaping up to be the best day on the water this weekend, with no rain in the forecast, so it should be a nice weekend for everyone.
**Sandeels, Sandeels, Sandeels!** There seem to be sandeels everywhere, ranging from 2-6 inches. All the fish in our area are happily feeding on them. I even saw some fish in the pond this week flashing and rolling, pulling them out of the sand—a very cool behavior to witness in person!
**Fluke:** Reports have been mixed, with many smaller fish being caught. Hopefully, this means a healthy population of bigger fish for next year. The bite has shifted a bit deeper, to 42-55 feet, but keep in mind that large fish are still being caught in shallower water.
**Seabass:** Customers have been catching them while fluke fishing. If you're specifically targeting them, you have a better chance of landing bigger ones. Bill Hurley sandeels have been particularly effective.
**Bass:** The bite around Block Island has slowed a bit this week, and the fish have moved along the south shore. Whether you're throwing lures, trolling, or using live bait, all methods have been productive.
**Bluefish:** We're still seeing bluefish of all sizes, from cocktails to gators. It's great to see such a healthy population sticking around so far this year. The water will start warming up more rapidly now.
**Tuna:** Reports are still scattered, with only a few boats finding a couple of fish. Nothing has truly settled in for recreational fishing yet, although there are still bigger fish around. As the water warms and we get some nicer days, I'm sure this will turn around quickly.
